DSP provides two kinds of scholarships, one to promote the education of children and the other to make it possible for more volunteers to participate in our international projects.

In partnership with Becas con Bendiciones (Becas), dedicated to the education of Honduran children, DSP supports the schooling of 22 students. Although these children attend public schools in Tegucigalpa, they must pay for required uniforms, school supplies and books, making it impossible for many to attend. DSP provides $100 a year for each of twenty-two children identified by Becas. A Becas team determines support based solely on need. Children in the program are guaranteed placement the following year if they meet the required minimum scholastic achievement, 70% average or greater in their studies.

In addition, we support two students from the LAMB Institute’s residential home in San Buenaventura at $750 a year.

The second area of sponsorship is much closer to home. Each year, DSP provides partial assistance to a few volunteers who would otherwise not be able to work in the international project. Eligibility is based on need, with first-time volunteers given priority for support.

Children we support from the Squatters Village in Tegucigalpa.
